Film Festivals and East Asia Reviewed in Cineaste

The Film Festival Yearbook project was always aimed as much at festival organisers as it was at academics,so it is nice to receive feedback from practitioners. Film Festivals and East Asia has just been reviewed Shelly Kraicer, a programmer at the Vancouver Film Festival and a consultant to Rotterdam and Venice, for the forthcoming issue of Cineaste (Spring 2012). He writes: ‘This valuable book…gathers sharp and thought-provoking analyses from a variety of viewpoints…It offers useful groundwork for a better understanding of why film festivals in general, and Asian film festivals in particular, matter to anyone interested in cinema as an internationally dispersed and engaged art form.’
